Office Clean-up:

Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning out Doug's new office. It was in pretty rough shape when we started the super clean.

Things we found:
- An entire case of sweetened lime juice that expired in 2007
- A sample box of ice-cream toppings from who knows when. All we do know is that if you opened them and turned them upside down nothing came out.
- Multiple pieces of random, tacky wallpaper
- Red Hots
- A billion manuals and past menus
- Winnie-the-pooh lamp
- A large metal pot that does not fit on any mixer we own
- And lots and lots of trash

Doug said in the process that cleaning and organizing is one of my gifts. I don't like tooting my own horn, but I would have to agree. I love to clean and organize. I think it could count as a spiritual gift, right?

New Life:

We arrived last night and were greeted with a homemade pizza night party and good friends. We ate, talked, and ate some more. Then Justin wow-ed us all with his homemade ice-cream and peach cobbler.

Maxwell slept a lot and is enjoying being a camp dog.

Doug worked all day today and I think his head is still attached.

I slept in way to late, helped with registration, and decided to let the outside world know that we have made it to our new home and our new life!

We are thrilled to be here.

10 Things to do in 2010:

10. Go to the Casino

On Friday we visited the Casino for Doug's work going away party. We enjoyed great conversation, admiring the beautiful lights that were hanging everywhere, and watching people on the dance floor.

It was fun dressing up and hearing from all of Doug's co-workers how wonderful he is. I stood and smiled and echoed their compliments. He really is pretty wonderful and super funny.

Doug Hugs:

I have always loved Doug's hugs. Even back when we were just friends. He always gives them at just the right moment.

For instance, two nights ago we had a terrible thunderstorm. I am not a fan of storms at all. I was sleeping soundly then there was a huge boom of thunder. Without thinking about it, Doug reached over and pulled me close. He knew I was scared, even in his sleep.

And then last night we were talking about how I get a little overwhelmed and anxious when things change...and well things are about to change, so I have been feeling overwhelmed and anxious. I got up and went into the kitchen to do the dinner dishes. A few moments later, I feel my sweetheart giving me a tight hug and a mini-back rub. It was just what I needed as I loaded the dishwasher.

Aunt & Uncle:

Last night we got to spend some time with the big sister's family. It is always a special treat when we get to hang out with them. Bailey is at a super fun age right now. She loves 'uncle goug', she speaks her mind, and she loves to play with her brother.

We had fun last night eating pizza, watching sponge bob, and having Bailey wear Doug's glasses.

Day off:

We did not have to work on Monday. I slept in while Doug went out to breakfast with his man friends. He brought me back a bagel with cream cheese and he delivered it to me in bed. We cuddled together as I ate and drank my coffee.

Then I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the funplex. It needed a good clean.

Doug wanted to go to some pawn shops and look for music stuff. We shopped around for a while and came back home with two packs of guitar strings and a new guitar slide. I put my new dress on and Doug added a polo to his outfit and we walked down to Keo for dinner. It was fancy and we felt out of place, but we enjoyed our meal anyway. I ordered the Pad Thai and Doug had the Shrimp Crepe. [He is an adventurous eater].

We ended the night with an early bed time and Seinfeld.

July 4th, 2010

We party hopped this year. We started out in the suburbs of BA, in a sub division, in a house full of children and parents. [In fact we were the only ones present without children]. We enjoyed watching the kids play and see their adorable patriotic outfits, had a hot dog eating contest, and placed 4th in the family fourth of July trivia game.
Then we headed to downtown, in a small apartment, with only couples present. We ate wonderful fruit pizza made by Erin, popcorn brought by her parents, and had drinks that were chilled in the kitchen sink. We were going to watch the fireworks on the rooftop, but as soon as we got up there we realized there was a large building in front of our view. So, we grabbed the chairs and the cooler and ran down the street. We enjoyed watching the fireworks with some of our closest friends.
Happy fourth of July!

New Adventure:

Remember how I was saying we could use some new jobs? Well, we now both have new jobs.

I have been reminded lately that God really does take care of his children. He knows our needs, our hearts, and our desires. And recently He has provided us with a new opportunity that will fulfill so many of our needs, wants, and desires.

Within the next few weeks we will be packing up, leaving our current jobs, and moving to camp. We are still a little shocked and surprised and it all feels a bit surreal.

When I married Doug I would have never imagined us moving three times in our first three years of marriage...but that is the course God has set before us. We are thrilled and enjoying the ride.

God is sooo good.
