Oklahoma Trip

Doug and I made a little trip down to Oklahoma not too long ago. We had a wonderful time seeing some family and attending one of the most beautiful weddings we have ever attended.

Sadly, I left our camera in IL. The only photos I have to show for our time were taken by others. We had a good, fast visit with these kids. Emily and I painted dinosaurs together, we played a game of tennis with foil and glass cups as a net, and we watched funny videos together. And we took this really excellent photo together.

And, we spent a little bit of time with these two cuties. And we left not wanting our own cuties for a while. We sure do love the whole Aunt and Uncle thing:

Saturday we attended the wedding of our dear friends, Eric and Ashley. We got to see so many fun friends. It was a wonderful, low-key reception where we got to just talk and talk with some many people that we love and miss dearly. It was a beautiful night.

I want to be a REALLY good Husband.

This is Doug writing by the way, and this is my third blog post ever. Writing more blog posts is just one of the ways that I hope to achieve the lofty goal that I have set for myself (Danae likes it when I post on the blog). I want to know exactly how to take care of Danae. She is my favorite person in the world.

There has been a lot on my mind lately, and I am quite certain that I could not possibly write all of my thoughts here. I am equally certain that doing so would result in a long and boring post even if it was possible. Instead I will just write a short list of thoughts that have resulted from some of this recent reflection. In no specific order...

Just some recent thoughts:
- I am still learning how to be married (and most likely always will be)
- I am still learning how to be in seminary
- I am still learning how to be humble like Christ (and most likely always will be)
- I want to make dinner more often
- I want to go to the city more often
- I should be giving more foot rubs
- I know Danae trusts me
- I know I don't want to do anything to lose that
- I am thankful for the many blessings in my life
- I am ready to watch some Top Chef tonight
- I will be okay if OU doesn't win this weekend

-and-

- I want to be a REALLY good Husband.

Thanks for stopping by, tips and suggestions are always welcome!

Indiana Weekend

Doug, Bethany, and I all headed down to Indiana for the weekend. We were greeted with lots of Granny and Grandpa hugs and kisses and beef stew and cornbread. We spent Friday evening eating good food, listening to Grandpa tell us stories of growing up in the 40's, and baking with Granny in the kitchen. We also pulled out boxes of old pictures. Doug gets a little tired of looking at pictures, so he sat in the living room and got lots of reading finished.

Saturday we woke up to pancakes and homemade syrup. Then we got all ready to head over to Uncle Craig's and Aunt Kim's. There we were greeted with more hugs and more great food. We played so many games. We walked around outside. And we enjoyed being together.

I had to borrow these pictures from the Arnold's, because my camera stayed in my purse the whole weekend. Oops!

I think we all came back refreshed and rejuvenated from spending time in the woods, with family, without work, computers, or phone calls.

Top Design

Doug and I like to pick a show to watch together every week. So we decided to watch this:

Well, last night was the finale. And they got it all wrong.

Preston really should have won, but instead Nathan did.

We were both a little sad and very shocked. Nobody thought Nathan should win.
